Life is so rushed these days, many of us are struggling to find that balance of healthy living and spending time with our loved ones, on top of our career/professional goals and busy schedules…We are always on the run.
Have you ever felt like your cooking routine doesn’t fit into your busy schedule, that you’re so busy all the time, and there are always more important things to take care of than looking after yourself?
I get it, because I used to be the same. Only a couple of years ago I was feeling my world was flipped upside down and inside out and I was struggling to find space for the things I normally love to do. Always busy, stressed and immersed in my day to day life. I hated coming home after work and having to cook. My fridge was not always stocked because I hated spending my free time shopping. Not only was I spending a lot of money by eating out but also, I ended up having a lot of digestive problems. I was always tired, moody and never had the energy to do anything outside of work. Looking back in my diaries, one of my new year’s resolutions for THREE consecutive years was to cook more and save more money.
Something shifted in me one day, tired of my routine and seeing my life wasn’t going in the direction I wanted. I left my job. While looking for a new job (not an enjoyable thing to do when you don’t know what you want to do) I started cooking everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner. I started learning more about food and loving the grocery shopping. Without noticing it, I was spending more time cooking and recreating recipes than looking for a new job. Looking after myself and my sweetheart gave me a lot of satisfaction. I was completely happy and feeling lucky for being able to spend time in my kitchen. Food and cooking became a delight, an outlet for creativity and relaxation, a way to connect with other people.
Finally, after 3 months break I went back to my old job. I came to realise there was nothing wrong with my job in the first place, it was me who needed a mindset shift.
I can only describe it as energy rising and a sense of peace. I noticed a significant change in my entire being. I was on a high and have been ever since. I’m feeling pretty good about life and the people around me have noticed it. I’ve learnt how to make healthy eating part of my lifestyle.
